Individual Concentration

You have all made it through JavaScript and Vue! Give yourself some praise. We are in the home stretch of the course. For this Module, we will focus on two things. The first will be your individual concentration, and the second will be the final project. This page will detail the individual concentration.

For your individual concentration, this is an opportunity to focus your learning on the things that interest YOU. The requirements for this project is that your individual concentration must cover a new topic or more advanced version of a topic we covered in this course. Your work must also be a verifiable tutorial with some sort of certificate of completion/tracker or you must provide a final deliverable. You MUST complete ONE area of study.

This section of the course will be a completion grade, a.k.a. you will receive equal credit for your level of completion of a tutorial. I will provide examples below that you can choose from, however, if you find something on your own that better suites your interests, I will also allow you to do that, but you MUST send it to me beforehand to receive approval. I encourage you to choose something that interests you and even something that you may want to use for your final project!

OPTION 1: W3School Tutorial
Your first potential option is to select a W3School Tutorial to complete. For these options, you MUST create an account and be signed in while you work through them. As you complete the lessons and exercises, your account will track your progress. For credit, you will upload a screenshot of your completed tutorial like below (but obviously, with the tutorial fully completed 🙂 ). Here are some recommended option below. If there are other subjects you wish to choose, just let me know.

  • SASS (link) –
Sass is a preprocessor scripting language that is compiled into regular CSS. Its superpower is to help developers reduce repetition of style definitions.
  • Git (link) –
Git is a version control system, that helps you keep track of code changes and to collaborate with others.
  • TypeScript (link) –
TypeScript is JavaScript with added syntax for types.
  • Node (link) – This is recommended for Dev-Track students. This is a longer tutorial, so only 50% completion is required.

OPTION 2: LinkedIn Learning Course
You may choose from a LinkedIn Learning Course to take (with approval) or select an option below.

OPTION 3: Choose Your Own
There are hundreds of great learning tutorials and projects out there for concepts we have not covered. If there is a concept you wish to learn that is not listed, just let me know! Any selection that is not listed does however need prior approval.
