Exploring AI for Active Learning
UGA’s Active Learning Summit is an annual celebration of the active learning method, promoting instructor development, and creating opportunities for student engagement.
Kyla Sterling, Emerging Media and Double Dawgs Faculty Advisor and Lecturer, participated as a panelist where she addressed how AI can enhance active learning in the classroom. During the discussion, Kyla shared a case study from her Emerging Media Industries course, demonstrating how students leverage large language models (LLMs) as brainstorming tools to refine their professional bios for their portfolio websites.
At the Summit, Kyla provided valuable insight into how AI integration within the revision process can foster critical thinking, iteration, and self-reflection – all of which are key components of active learning.
