Please join the New Media Institute in welcoming John Weatherford.

John joined the NMI in August and has had a busy start to the year teaching New Media Production and Rich Media classes. John also works closely with Dr. Shamp and Emuel to lead the Capstone course. Before joining the NMI, John spent many years teaching in UGA’s English department has been an active member of the TEDxUGA Steering Committee from the start. The New Media Institute could not be happier to have him on board!

In his courses, John covers topics from mobile and web application development to user experience design to documentary filmmaking. Beyond the UGA Arch, John founded Recursive LLC, an Athens-based startup focused on software for writing and composition classes. Earlier, John started two local photography companies, River Oak Photography and Milledge Avenue Photography, alongside his wife, Kate. John currently serves on the boards of the Calliope Initiative, an open-source software nonprofit, and Friends of Five Points, a neighborhood organization.
