However, there is a complete absence of a solution that seamlessly syncs music tempo in real-time with a runner’s cadence to create an intentional, performance-enhancing exercise experience.
Our app addresses this by uniquely combining live cadence tracking with dynamic BPM-matched playback. PaceJam is a responsive running app that seamlessly syncs your pace with your music, creating a deeply personalized and adaptive soundtrack for your workout. Our dual-mode functionality, which either adapts to the runner’s cadence or guides their workout, offers a uniquely engaging solution for the vast majority of runners who listen to music.
Built for iOS, it connects directly to your Spotify library and allows you to select from a wide variety of music sources. It adjusts playback in real-time based on your cadence, tracked through Apple HealthKit via your iPhone or Apple Watch. PaceJam also offers a set of pre-programmed workouts to make maximizing your run as seamless as can be. The app uses Spotify’s API for music control, OAuth 2.0 for secure authentication, and is developed in Swift for a smooth experience. With PaceJam, you’ll enjoy minimal distractions, a curated playlist that matches your tempo, and no need for extra wearables—just your iPhone and Spotify Premium account.
