AR and App Clips are two relatively new technologies in iOS, and both have been very recently made compatible with one another. AR imposes 3D images on top of a camera image, making them appear as though they are in the ‘real’ world. App Clips are essentially ‘bite-sized’ versions of an app that can be quickly downloaded and used. Our team’s goal is to create a compelling, useful experience that can employ these two technologies simultaneously.
Our solution to this is creating Live Cards. Live Cards is a physical greeting card that contains a scannable code. Once a user scans the image with their iPhone camera, a vibrant AR animation pops up in a matter of seconds. No App is required; all a user needs is an iPhone with iOS 14.5 and up.
Through these colorful cards, we aim to turn a sentiment into a statement. The short animations featured in LiVE CARDS range from birthday decorations to gender reveal celebrations. Attractive, exciting and simple to use, we believe that these cards are not only a novel way to send a message, but that they’re also the future of greeting cards.
