Feasting on Hunger Bowl Success

Every year, the NMI teams up with the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication to compete in the Northeast Georgia Food Bank’s Hunger Bowl. Students, faculty, and staff come together to collect non-perishable, in-demand food items to help combat food insecurity in the Athens-Clarke County area. During this unprecedented year, the food bank saw demand for their services increase by 40%.

The combined effort to collect food virtually and in-person resulted in just under 1,000 pounds of food collected for 14 nearby Georgia counties. To sum it up, 8,247 meals will be provided to our most vulnerable citizens. Thank you to everyone who joined Tech Dawg and the NMI superheroes (pictured above) to fight hunger in Barrel City. Happy Thanksgiving, indeed!
