ACC KIOSK

May 7, 2021

The ACC Transit kiosk team is working alongside UGA alumni and Athens-Clarke County marketing coordinator, Rachel Hopkins, to help improve upon the current kiosk application. Rachel and the group are working together to ensure that the kiosks are both informational and easy to use. The goal is to create kiosks that both provide helpful and relevant information and utilize an easy-to-use design for all riders! The kiosks will be located at the ACC Multi-Modal Center, the Classic Center, in front of Parking Services on College Avenue and inside the ACC Public Library.

Based on findings from user research, the kiosks contain information regarding bus routes, arrival and departure times, bus tracking, and trip planning. Additionally, the group is working to implement a suggested destinations feature which highlights useful stops along the most popular routes including route five, seven, and twenty-one. The goal of the suggested destinations feature is to encourage transit riders to utilize public transportation while also supporting local businesses. Interviews from ACC Transit employee, Sharyneeka Taylor, and District County Commissioner, Tim Denson, provide the group with valuable information regarding which stops would prove most helpful to ACC transit riders. The suggested destinations feature includes stops that fall under six possible categories including services, shopping, healthcare, entertainment, education, and black-owned businesses.

The ACC Transit Kiosk team is creating a better user experience by redesigning the homepage of the kiosks. The homepage now features both a dropdown menu and buttons that allow riders to browse through the kiosk application with ease. In addition to a dropdown menu, the homepage also has buttons that navigate the user to the various pages. The pages include information regarding departure times, bus routes, bus tracking, suggested destinations, accessibility information, and a page that provides riders the ability to plan their own trips. In addition to improving the overall flow of the homepage, the team added information such as the local weather and time to enhance the kiosks’ usability.
