WE’VE BEEN BUSY BEES!

March 1, 2024

EMUEL | We have both good news and bad news, so let’s start with the latter. We’re are bidding a bittersweet farewell to a beloved member of our NMI faculty: Emuel Aldridge. For the past 17 years, Emuel has led the charge in our advanced production courses – both in person and online – and provided immeasurable contributions to our web development and capstone courses. Emuel has been a friendly face around the NMI since 2006. Classes, events, and the NMI suite won’t be the same without him and his easygoing spirit!

Emuel, we hope you fill your days with Highlands cabin renovations and Normaltown shenanigans. Don’t forget to bike over and say hi every once in a while – we will have a cup of coffee waiting for you!

As we bid a fond farewell, we are also celebrating a few faces stepping into new roles. We’re thrilled to introduce Tyler Mazurek, Kyla Sterling, and Chris Gerlach in their updated capacities!

TYLER | After 3 years with the NMI, Tyler will officially be official this Fall when he moves from a limited-term instructor to a forever-term Instructor. Tyler will continue to serve as the New Media Certificate Faculty Advisor but will take on additional leadership roles including Director of NMIXpo, TEDxUGA House Manager, and Supervisor for Part-Time NMI Faculty.

KYLA | Effective August 1st, Kyla will be an Associate Academic Professional. In this role, she will continue to serve as the Emerging Media and Double Dawgs Faculty Advisor. Additionally, she will support TEDxUGA as the Director of Engagement.

CHRIS | And starting in Fall 2024, Chris will be the NMI’s newest Lecturer. In this role, Chris will continue to lead all facility and tech projects, manage client engagement efforts, represent the NMI within the UGA Innovation District, and serve as TEDxUGA Designer.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there!

LAUREN | We’re delighted to welcome a familiar face back to the NMI. Allow us to reintroduce Lauren Baggett, the newest NMI Instructor and Director of Communications for the NMI and TEDxUGA! Her expertise and experience will ensure all NMI audiences remain engaged and informed. We’re thrilled to have her back and eagerly anticipate the impact she’ll make in her new role!
