We had our brat summer, but now we’re back and ready for a new year. We have a team of champions who will be teaching, TED-ing, and leading our site visits this year. Join us in extending a warm welcome to some new faces.
- Peyton Owens • TEDxUGA Assistant Curator
As the Assistant Curator for TEDxUGA 2025, Peyton Owens acts as Isa Martinez’s right-hand man for all things TEDxUGA. Aside from TEDxUGA production, planning, and curation, Peyton also helps lead instruction and discussions for NMIX 4012: New Media & TED. When he is not working with TEDfam, you can find Peyton at the front desk of Ramsey, attending local concerts, or simply reading a good book!
- Lilian Fitch • Communications Coordinator
The NMI’s 2023-2024 Young Dawg, Lilian Fitch, returns as a UGA first-year and the NMI’s Communications Coordinator! Working closely with Lauren Baggett, Lilian mans communication efforts for the NMI and TEDxUGA. When she’s not drafting social media content, Lilian loves to read, explore restaurants with friends, and play JustDance!
- Max Pelot • Assistant Director of Innovation
Max Pelot joins the NMI as the Graduate Assistant for the NMI/CPH grant (see below). In addition to leading the NMI’s grant team, Max is also providing faculty support for several new initiatives. Outside the NMI, Max enjoys playing tennis and game development!
- Lauren Baggett • Faculty
Lauren Baggett is a Full-Time Instructor, taking on NMIX 4010: Web Development and NMIX 4410: New Media Capstone this year. Lauren is also leading communication and donor strategy for both TEDxUGA and the NMI. When she is not in class or comms-mode, you can find her listening to podcasts, playing ultimate frisbee, cooking, and spending time with her husband and four-year-old!
- Anthony Drag • Part-time Faculty
Anthony Drag joins the NMI as a Part-Time Instructor for NMIX 4020/6020: Advanced Web Development and NMIX 4030/6030: Native App Development. Anthony’s contributions in the 401 lab have already been incredibly meaningful in our post-Emuel era. Outside of the NMI, Anthony works out at Fitness @ Five, runs, writes, works as a creative consultant, plays keyboard with his friends, and creates recordings with local musicians.
