This month, Curator Isabella Martinez represented TEDxUGA at TEDNext 2024, a transformative five-day experience focused on professional and personal growth. The TED conference included collaborative workshops with worldwide TEDx organizers, interactive discovery sessions, and over 45 inspiring TED Talks.
One impactful moment for Isa was Adam Munder‘s TED Talk on inclusivity, where he demoed OmniBridge, a venture that uses AI to facilitate communication between spoken and signed languages. Isa also took part in a workshop with interdisciplinary artist and TED Speaker Maya Penn, who explored how nature can inform our design process through biomimicry.
These workshops provided a space for organizers to discuss innovative ideas and creative strategies for enhancing their local TEDx events. The most rewarding aspect of TEDNext was connecting and having insightful conversations with attendees and speakers from a variety of countries and industries. Isa returned to campus motivated to pursue ambitious goals, which you may see unfold at TEDxUGA 2025: Destination!
