Last week, we put industry feedback into action and helped enhance the soft skills of our young NMI-professionals with our newest event: Small Talk 101.
We kicked things off with a networking hour where students mingled with industry friends and practiced facilitating introductions and forming professional connections. Afterwards, professionals shared feedback on the students’ networking skills. They noted that the students’ initial introductions were strong, and they didn’t hold back when sharing their passions. But being concise and showing both personal and professional interest were identified as areas for improvement.
Year 1 was a success! We can’t wait to make Small Talk 101 an annual offering and equip all future NMI-ers with improved soft-skills that are sure to help them stand out in the workplace.
