Samira is a second-year Emerging Media Masters student. A long-time Bulldawg and editorial leader, she graduated from the Grady College in 2002 with a journalism degree. She was an Associated Press Correspondent before joining CNN, where she took on multiple editorial leadership roles for 16 years. She’s currently the Director of Standards & Practices at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Samira has also served on the Board of Directors for The Red & Black, the independent student-run news organization covering the UGA community, for more than a decade.

That’s all a long way of saying: She’s a news junkie who loves a good story.

Samira is happy to help with WebDev and app essentials, particularly HTML, CSS and Swift. She’s also an experienced hiring manager and loves to lend a hand with portfolios and resumes.

At home, she’s severely outnumbered by her two teenagers and two rescue mutts who tend generate shock-inducing grocery bills. They still make her happy.
