NMI Buds Take Beantown

We are still buzzing from our recent site visit to Boston where NMI students had the opportunity to learn from professionals at DraftKings and iRacing. On day one, we toured DraftKings, a leader in fully-online sports broadcast content creation. Our day included a meeting with UGA alumnus Jonathan Bell, who shared how he works with data to predict customer behavior and guide content strategy.

After a great day at DraftKings, our team had a fantastic dinner with Dominic Brown, a fellow Bulldog and meteorologist for NBC Boston. Dominic answered student questions and shared valuable insights on his career journey.

On day two, we visited iRacing to learn from Drew Adamson about how iRacing utilizes precise simulations to provide a real-world driver experience. From laser scanning racetracks around the globe to empowering eSports voices on the largest stages, iRacing reflects many of the skills taught in NMI. Fun fact: Drew’s father, Michael Adamson, has long been a member of the NMI Advisory Council.

Outside of our professional pursuits, students had the chance to explore one of America’s oldest cities, venture to Salem, discover new restaurants (Italian, bagels, and cannolis – oh my!), and tour Fenway Park. And they had a blast celebrating with other fans at a local watch party as the Dawgs took down Texas!
