Once NMI fam, always NMI fam. Once a graduate assistant, Lauren has come full circle to rejoin the NMI as a full-time faculty member and Director of Communications.
As a graduate assistant from 2015 to2017, Lauren wrote the NMI newsletter, worked with Megan to get students work and world ready in Digital Brown Bag, and supported TEDxUGA. After graduating with her master’s in health and medical journalism, she begin working at UGA’s College of Public Health and transitioned to the TEDxUGA Advisory Council. She brings a big-picture perspective to her work leading the communications and donor relations strategy for the NMI, and she’s bringing a wealth of experience in digital communications, storytelling, and project management to NMIX and JRMC classes.
Lauren is a UGA Grady Double Dawg (ABJ ’09, MA ’17). Over her career, Lauren has produced stories and content for a variety of outlets and platforms. She led the communications office at UGA’s College of Public Health for 7 years, and she has written and produced audio stories for local news outlets, including Georgia Health News, WUGA, and GPB News.
