The NMI is excited to announce a new partnership with the College of Public Health’s Institute for Disaster Management (IDM). This collaboration aims to enhance quality of care and safety across Georgia’s long-term care facilities. The Georgia Department of Community Health’s Healthcare Facility Regulation Division (HFRD) is responsible for training surveyors who inspect and evaluate long-term care facilities, like nursing homes or assisted living communities. To support this crucial work, IDM has been working closely with HFRD to develop new training methods that improve the effectiveness of these inspections.
Now, IDM is joining forces with the NMI to leverage the skills of Emerging Media Master’s students and faculty to create a suite of engaging, interactive training modules. By merging technology and real-world scenarios, the new trainings will be more visual and practical, which will help inspectors more quickly identify issues that could impact quality of care.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards ensuring that long-term care facilities provide the best possible care for residents.
