Kyla began her NMI journey in 2018 as an Emerging Media Masters student. Now, as Faculty Advisor for the New Media Certificate, Kyla oversees certificate student journeys all the way from recruitment to graduation—and beyond! In addition, she teaches a variety of both EM and Certificate courses and continues to grow the NMI network by working closely with alumni and corporate partners. Kyla has been at UGA since 2014, first crafting student engagement strategy at the Terry College of Business and more recently leading marketing and outreach efforts at The Georgia Review. Prior to moving to Athens, Kyla taught as a Lecturer in the English Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she also earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time on the Georgia coast and hanging out with her husband and their one-eyed cat, Una.

Kyla joined the NMI in January 2020.
