WHO WE ARE

The New Media Institute is an interdisciplinary academic unit dedicated to exploring the critical, commercial and creative dimensions of emerging technologies. Committed to the teaching and training of new media professionals, the NMI brings faculty, staff, students and industry leaders of all disciplines together in an environment dedicated to exploring the applications of new media technologies.  The NMI focuses on critical investigations into the constantly changing media landscape, the development of skills to build commercial products and the creation of projects that use new media solutions to address real-world problems.

The NMI houses a diverse assemblage of faculty, staff and students with outstanding technology skills paired with a Grady-trained background in communication. From website and app design to emerging technology exploration and integration, the NMI offers an array of consulting services that will help your department or organization better leverage technology in today's evolving media landscape.

Many research efforts either require or could benefit from the latest technological developments in hardware, software and services. Whether you’re looking for help implementing a new technology or seeking to explore the potential use of emerging platforms, NMI faculty and students are available for collaboration, helping departments across campus effectively apply technology in their research initiatives.

COMMUNITY OFFERINGS

In addition to serving the University, the NMI also offers community organizations an opportunity to work with faculty and/or students to develop digital products. Projects generally employ an innovative use of an emerging technology to aid in addressing a specific problem or objective. Working with dozens of organizations to address a diverse array of technology needs, the NMI will work with your organization to find a solution that fits your needs.
