These are all already installed on the classroom iMacs for residential sections. Students in both residential and online classes must install and configure all of them on their personal computers, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Browser<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/chrome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Google Chrome<\/a>&#8211;&nbsp;I actually prefer Safari for my day-to-day browser, but for web development, Chrome is tops. Make sure it&#8217;s your default on your lab computer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Code Editor<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/code.visualstudio.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\">Visual Studio Code<\/a> &#8211; Quickly becoming the industry standard for code editing, we&#8217;ll use this to create and edit HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files. Your FTP client will allow you to connect to and manage your server (once you have one).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">File Sync<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/SanDisk-128GB-Ultra-Drive-Type-C\/dp\/B01EZ0X55C\/ref=sr_1_4?crid=10PEZA2XMY9MA&amp;keywords=usb%2Bc%2Band%2Busb%2Ba%2Bdual&amp;qid=1692129703&amp;sprefix=usb%2Bc%2Band%2Busb%2Ba%2Bdual%2Caps%2C86&amp;sr=8-4&amp;th=1\">Flash Drive<\/a> &#8211; This will be your primary file storage system. A good ol&#8217; flash drive works great for our needs, especially if you&#8217;re taking Web Dev residentially and need to get your files from one machine (lab computer) to another (your computer) and vice versa. The following can be used as back-up on your personal computer (highly recommended)! <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Syncing Software &#8211; There are several great file syncing services out there, and if you&#8217;re comfortable \/ already invested in one of them, go for it. However, if you&#8217;re looking for a good option, check out <a href=\"https:\/\/ugamail.uga.edu\/onedrive_business\/\">OneDrive<\/a>. It&#8217;s easily accessed through your email, or you can download it to your desktop. The beauty of OneDrive is that you get 1TB of storage for FREE as a UGA student which should be more than enough for this course. However, there are many other options such as Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. <br><br><strong>IMPORTANT: <\/strong>If you do go with OneDrive, you&#8217;ll want to make sure that you right click your class folder(s) and choose the option, &#8220;Always Keep On This Device.&#8221; This same requirement applies to any syncing tool you use though the process may vary a bit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"footnotes\"><hr \/><ol><li id=\"footnote-1-362\" class=\"footnote\"><p>I promise this is fine.<a href=\"#note-1-362\" class=\"footnote-return\">&#8617;<\/a><\/p><\/li><!--\/#footnote-1.footnote--><\/ol><\/div><!--\/#footnotes-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;ll use the following tools, all of them free and cross-platform, in this course.
