Then, choose to either a) extend that experience with a new offering or b) redesign the existing offering. You&#8217;ll do so through three primary components:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. A <strong>comprehensive digital customer experience journey map<\/strong> <a href=\"#footnote-1-56\" id=\"note-1-56\" rel=\"footnote\">1<\/a>. A <strong>Case Study<\/strong> in which you present a comprehensive overview of your final project, including the <strong>map<\/strong> and <strong>prototypes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udd14 Rationale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of this course is to gain expertise designing integrated multi-part digital customer experiences. This final project serves those goals in the following ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mapping such an experience is an excellent way to begin to apply the analytical skills we&#8217;ve developed in this course. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prototyping a new (or renewed) experience is an excellent way to practically consider what it looks like to design part of an experience with the broader ecosystem in mind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Writing about these two items, along with the research and analysis informing them, not only reinforces your learning but also leaves you with a sharable work product.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfd7\ufe0f Structure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One-page proposal (2 points, due Friday, 5\/22)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Draft a succinct, clear overview of your project. Specifically, describe:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The digital customer experience you plan to (re)design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The touchpoint you might prototype<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How you plan to contextualize this work in writing for your professional goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Submit as <\/span>an entry in your learning journal Google Doc titled &#8220;Final Project Proposal.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rough draft (5 points, due Tutorial 2)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A complete draft of <\/span>all three components of your final project (map, prototype, Medium post). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Doneness &gt; perfection for this stage. The goal here is to get your head around your project as a whole so that you can assess its state holistically.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Learning the tools (especially UXPressia and Medium.com, but also your prototyping tools) is key.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While perfection isn&#8217;t expected, a serious enough effort to make this stage worth everyone&#8217;s while is expected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In an entry in your learning journal Google Doc titled &#8220;Final Project &#8211; Rough Draft,&#8221; share a link to your Medium post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Project presentation (3 points, delivered Wednesday 6\/3)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A short (2m45s &#8211; 3m15s), polished presentation of your work for this project, pre-recorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You absolutely may (and probably should!) draw from your Medium.com post to guide your presentation&#8217;s structure and content.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Focus on creating a compelling narrative of your project. A brief outline might go something like this:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Quick general background info to get a smart layperson up to speed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A short narrative of how you identified the specific experience to improve<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A brief overview of your process of working through the problem space via your CJM<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A guided tour of the highlights of your new\/improved CX via your prototype<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pre-record your presentation and be prepared to screenshare its playback during our class meeting.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/nmi.cool\/capstone\/slam-presentation-tips\/\">These tips<\/a> (content somewhat, but especially technical) from our undergraduate SLAM event might be helpful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We recommend recording your presentation with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.descript.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Descript<\/a>\u2014this is a great FREE video editing tool that helps you create top-notch, polished presentations, and it&#8217;s as easy to use as Google Docs or Slides. Not into Descript? Here&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/nmi.cool\/web\/how-to-make-a-screen-recording\/\">guide<\/a> to creating a standard screen recordings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expect a question from me and perhaps one or two from your classmates after you play your video.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Upload to YouTube (unlisted, if you&#8217;d like!) and share link in your learning journal Google Doc titled &#8220;Final Project Presentation.&#8221;<a href=\"#footnote-2-56\" id=\"note-2-56\" rel=\"footnote\">2<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final deliverables (20 points, due Wednesday 6\/3)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Share your case study Medium.com link in your learning journal Google Doc as an entry titled &#8220;Final Project &#8211; Case Study.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"case-study\">Case Study (5 points)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Case Study satisfies your <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1m21VjfYvq3bIhg9JlVB8HNXYJj5AZPdNgoHUJ1JBz_w\/edit\">Emerging Media Dossier<\/a> requirements for the course. As such, it should follow the format required by the EM Dossier:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Title and Subtitle&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Consider this formula for your title: Project name + project scope + project\/case study (i.e: Instagram Icon Redesign Project)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your subtitle should be a sentence or short phrase that tells your audience what the project\/product was about. (i.e.: An app that helps you connect with other new students.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Project Date<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When did you work on this project (i.e.: Spring 2023, May 2024, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Your Role<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If this was a group project, list your role. Otherwise, this step is optional.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Project Overview<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A brief, scannable overview of the project goals and results. Include the tools\/software used in this section. (Recommended length: 2 &#8211; 3 sentences.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Problem<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What were the specific challenges, problems, or goals that this project attempted to meet? Consider user needs, technical constraints, etc. (Recommended length: 3 &#8211; 5 sentences.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Solution<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Describe your method or process for creating this project, how you solved the specific challenges from the previous section, and describe the \u201cwhy\u201d behind your design\/development decisions. This is the longest section, where you\u2019ll include most of your process documentation (visuals) and highlights from the final deliverable. (Recommended length: as long as needed.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Results<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Success metrics, lessons learned, next steps for future iterations, etc. (Recommended length: 3 &#8211; 5 sentences.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Topics&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Medium.com allows you to tag your story with up to 5 \u201ctopics\u201d that make your case study easier to find. One of these tags must be the course number (i.e.: NMIX6010, JRMC7012, etc.) as detailed above. In addition, you should also select 4 other relevant topics (ex. UX, SwiftUI, Design, etc). Watch this video for help<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional considerations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Need help setting up your Medium? <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Qdm8HXkecAs\">Watch this video<\/a>!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Your case study on Medium.com must contain <em>links to<\/em> (not just images of) both your journey map and your prototype.<\/strong> (Why? Medium\u2019s embedded images often aren\u2019t high-resolution enough to see all the details you\u2019ve put into your work!)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrating your process, not just the end result, is key.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No specific word limits, though something more than 900 words and less than 1800 is probably on track.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your prose should be scannable, carefully proofread, and detailed\/specific while still being concise. Be consistent in terms of tense (i.e.: past tense\/present tense) and point of view. Employ section headings, bolding, and bullet points when necessary. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Map (10 points)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Two versions of the same comprehensive digital customer experience journey map to be created via UXPressia. Successful maps will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Give viewers a clear <em>and<\/em> comprehensive understanding of the experience you seek to create<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Highlight insights gained into touchpoint for improvement, within the context of <a href=\"https:\/\/fs.blog\/chestertons-fence\/\">why the existing offering is the way it is<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow rules of good design and copywriting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The first version of the map represents the present, unmodified state of the experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The second version of the map should be modified to reflect the updated experience and can reuse components of the original map as needed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Here&#8217;s a link to some tips for <a href=\"https:\/\/nmi.cool\/cx\/getting-started-with-uxpressia-and-journey-mapping\/\">getting started with UXPressia<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prototype (5 points)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Prototype a key element of the experience you&#8217;re redesigning. Prototypes may take any format you&#8217;d like, so long as they clearly and completely represent the elements of your experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Focus on depth over breadth.
