Fifteen entires over the duration of the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83e\udd14 Rationale<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the goals for this course is for you to develop a set of CX knowledge and skills relevant to your own individual future academic and professional goals. Keeping a running, reflective journal provides an effective means of doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why? Two primary principles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Writing is a way of thinking. Engaging with your thoughts through writing is a forcing function for clarifying your thinking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Related, numerous studies show that critical reflection on coursework improves comprehension, aids recall, facilitates new insights, and enhances knowledge transfer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Sources for entires in your learning journal may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Course readings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Class discussions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Readings from your <a href=\"https:\/\/nmi.cool\/cx\/tech-news-practice\/\">tech news practice<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83c\udfd7\ufe0f Structure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You&#8217;ll start at the beginning of the semester by making a copy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1SSUKklPbwVBPOUy-wE2LJQx4WJ8g-AIIAiFpP2_4wSg\/edit?usp=share_link\">Learning Journal Google Doc<\/a> and sharing it with your instructor&#8217;s gmail. (Make sure to name your copy Lastname, Firstname JRMC 7010E Assignments) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One entry per scheduled day of class for fifteen entries total (see <a href=\"https:\/\/nmi.cool\/cx\/syllabus#schedule\">course schedule<\/a>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other assignments submitted in the Google Doc that aren&#8217;t part of the learning journal (Tutorials, Final Project work) <strong>do not<\/strong> count toward the total of fifteen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include a <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/docs\/answer\/116338?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&amp;hl=en\">Table of Contents<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give each entry a title formatted as a Heading 2.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spend 8-15 minutes per entry.<a href=\"#footnote-1-263\" id=\"note-1-263\" rel=\"footnote\">1<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Follow these three guidelines for your journals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>1) The journal is a practice<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not an assignment to be caught up with at the last minute; rather, it is to be an ongoing, continually tended space for learning and growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>2) The journal is personally driven<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If this journal isn&#8217;t advancing your learning goals, it&#8217;s pointless. Discuss and work on the things we focus on in class, of course, but bend this assignment to your interests and goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>3) The journal is interdisciplinary and multimodal<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Writing is good, but you&#8217;re encouraged to go beyond: images \/ audio \/ code \/ etc. are welcome and encouraged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><code>Note: Your <a href=\"https:\/\/nmi.cool\/cx\/tutorials\/\">Tutorial<\/a> writings will be written in your Learning Journal Google Docs but will be assessed separately.<\/code> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udcd3 Grading (20 points, 2 checkpoints x 10 points each<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Journals will be evaluated by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completeness (one entry per fifteen days of class)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Timeliness (entries completed within one day of that class)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adherence to principles noted above<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\uddd3\ufe0f <b>Timeline<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Checkpoint 1: Friday 5\/22 (8 new entries, 8 entries total)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Checkpoint 2: Wednesday 6\/3 (7 new entires, 15 entries total)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ud83d\udccb Prompts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Entry 1: Analyze a negative digital customer experience. What were the negative elements of that experience? What precisely caused the experience to be negative?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entires 2-4: Each day, reflect on either a passage from <em>Tragic Design<\/em> or a reading from your tech news practice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entries 5-7: Each day, reflect on either a passage from <em>Principles of Product Design<\/em> or a reading from your tech news practice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entries 8-9: Each day, reflect on either a passage from <em>This Is Service Design Doing<\/em> Chapters 1-4, 9 or a reading from your tech news practice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entries 10-12: Each day, reflect on either a passage from <em>Don&#8217;t Make Me Think, Revisited<\/em> or a reading from your tech news practice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entries 13-14: Each day, reflect on either a reading from our CX Toolkit readings or a reading from your tech news practice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Entry 15: Reflect on your experience in and takeaways from this class.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"footnotes\"><hr \/><ol><li id=\"footnote-1-263\" class=\"footnote\"><p>You&#8217;re welcome to spend more if you&#8217;d like, but there&#8217;s no expectation that you do.<a href=\"#note-1-263\" class=\"footnote-return\">&#8617;<\/a><\/p><\/li><!--\/#footnote-1.footnote--><\/ol><\/div><!--\/#footnotes-->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\ud83c\udf0e Overview A journal of learnings from this course as collected, considered, and applied to your future academic and professional goals.
