Additional Professional Portfolio details<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your Professional Portfolio will be hosted at the root of your domain (example: yoursite.com). You\u2019ll begin creating your Professional Portfolio in your first certificate development course. Yes, you MUST<\/strong> maintain your own personal website (domain registration and hosting) until you complete your New Media Certificate or Emerging Media Masters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your Professional Portfolio will be evaluated against its intended purpose: presenting your work to a professional audience. Therefore, our evaluation will focus on how effectively you communicate your skills and professional aspirations through the medium of a modern responsive website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some important considerations\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students can build their portfolio using WordPress, create a static site using Bootstrap, or use any other web builder of their choice, however it\u2019s crucial that portfolios are accessible at: yoursite.com<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WordPress PSA:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

REMEMBER: if you make a mistake with your WordPress install, you should NOT try to solve it by manually moving the install on your server (i.e.: dragging and dropping it to a new location in CyberDuck.) You will break your site and lose your work if you do this. Instead, you should follow the steps for cloning your site<\/a> to safely move the WordPress install.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, as always, be safe and smart by creating a local backup<\/a> of your WordPress site after you\u2019ve spent any significant amount of time working on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
